Background Noise and the dust Museum jointly present a tribute to the important English, Manchester post punk record label factory records and its founding father Tony Wilson who sadly passed away two weeks ago.  We will be playing on background noise a selection of tracks from each side of the classic first release, the double 7 inch a factory sample from 1979 and an often forgotten and rare beautiful dub reggae 12 inch by X.O.DUS.  Also a selection from the new six CD release by Australian sound designer Peter Miller.After a battle with kidney cancer dating back to earlier this year, Anthony “Tony” Wilson  passed away at the age of 57, according to various reports. He Died on August 13.
Wilson– a charming TV personality and the founder of both Factory Records and the Hacienda club– was a longtime fixture in the music scene of first his hometown of Manchester, England, and eventually the nation and world as well. His Factory label– formed in 1978 and inspired by the burgeoning UK punk scene, particularly a 1976 Sex Pistols show in Manchester– was responsible for legends such as Joy Division, New Order, and the Happy Mondays, as well as lesser-known but distinctive and crucial artists such as A Certain Ratio, Durutti Column, the Stockholm Monsters, ESG, the Wake, and Section 25. A flood of tributes have come from across the music world, with ex-New Order bassist and occasional DJ Peter Hook saying “My heart is broken.”

Now, the legendary factory sample, double 7 inch starting with side one of the first 7 inch of the double .  We will go through all four sides.  And what better place to start than with joy division followed by durutti column.   Strangeness + Charm consists of 61 one hour ambient musicscapes on six CDs.  It is real music for airports and was specifically designed and commissioned for first-class lounges of a major airline where it is being played now.  The pieces are invented entirely from insect and birds sounds and the end result is melodic and mysterious and haunting.Tracks:
